This week, I continued creating props for my scene. I created a mail box, a chair, and two road signs, all of which I plan on adding detail to with texturing.
I'll begin by discussing the square sign. I'm aware there are many road signs with this shape, so I am still deciding on which design I want to use for my scene. If possible, I'd like to use a theme which helps tell the story of the scene, such as a sign warning of whatever danger has caused the theoretical apocalypse.Next, I made the mailbox seen above. I am not entirely satisfied with it, but I am struggling to decide how I want it to be shaped. I believe I can add a fair amount of detail with stamps and normals in painter, but I am considering redoing the asset or throwing the idea out altogether, since the scene is supposed to be set in a city, where mailboxes aren't as common as in suburbs, for example.
Next I created a hazard sign, using much of the same method from the other road sign. I used a cube, which I cut using the multi-cut tool, then deleted the faces which made the shape a square. Finally, I bridged the open faces, making a triangular shape. I plan to add lots of weathering to this sign, and I am planning to place it near the edge of the diorama.
Finally, I have the chair. I attempted to create a broken chair with splintered wooden parts, but was unable to achieve the desired effect, so I decided to simply create a chair missing one of the back supports. I may add more detail to the limbs in the future, but for now I want to place this knocked over in the scene as set dressing.
