This week, I began experimenting with planes as fabric, or more specifically, using the soft select tool on planes to achieve the effect of gravity. I am not entirely pleased with the results yet, and will likely redo some of these parts of my project. I also took the advice of everybody in class, and combined two of my buildings to remove the alley between them. I considered deleting some assets from the scene in this regard, since some aspects of some assets would not be seen in the final product, but I decided I would only delete the windows on the side of the building I had made, and leave the bricks on the corners alone. This is because I believe my format for their UV layout means I can still apply the texture to the bricks which are partially inside another object, while keeping the same texture across all of them through tiling the UV spaces.
As you can see, I have also included some basic wall in the scene, which I plan to add some more detail to next sprint. I will likely add some pillars, some horizontal decor, and many details through texturing the models. Unfortunately, I have not accomplished any texturing as of yet, but next sprint I plan to, at the very least, have the buildings and street textured for export. Finally, I have been doing much thinking, and have decided I will challenge myself to create my finished product in Unreal, after discussing with the class during critiques. It is an unexpected change, but one I am excited to face.
