This week, I was focused on learning from the unreal engine video and applying the lessons to my scene, as well as creating more props. First I created a pallet, with a few damaged pieces, that I then UV'd and prepared to texture. I am thinking I will add a relatively simple wooden texture onto the model, then add more details with the decal system in unreal. While I look forward to fully understanding the software, I admit it has been a steep learning curve for me. Both in the ways the software is run, and the ways the textures are imported are new to me, and I have begun my journey of learning in working on an assignment for CAGD 325 earlier in the week.

Next, I created an umbrella, specifically a sort of picnic table umbrella for outdoor use which had been closed. I have a picture below. I had a fun time manipulating a cone with extrude and multi-cut to create this unique prop. I've never challenged myself with this type of prop before, and I found it interesting to work through. I am more excited about working with fabric type of objects after creating this umbrella, as working with the vertices and making a sense of gravity was really motivating and engaging.Finally, I created this mattress model. I am most proud of this model this week, since it looks like it genuinely has a sense of gravity and rest to it. I am very, very confident I will be able to add a convincing fabric texture in painter, and add some decals to help tell a story in Unreal. I am undecided on whether this prop will stay laying down, or if I will have it vertical somehow. I am also undecided on whether or not I will make it a box spring instead of a mattress, to change both how it will be setup in the scene and the decals used
Unfortunately, the work I had on the street in unreal was lost to a BSOD incident during the writing of this blog post, and thus isn't ready to be shown this week. However, work on the floors is underway, and rest assured next week I will be diving into megascans and unreal to begin the setup of my props.
