In this assignment, we were tasked with creating an aesthetically appealing photograph with the subject framed accordingly. We were then to use the remaining space to create weight and eye movement.
For this assignment, I was supposed to practice utilizing the compositional elements learned up until this point. This assignment was somewhat a culmination of our skills up until this point.
The intended composition of m scene included the leaf as the subject, with the grass as the background and/or foreground.
I used the brown of the subject as a way to draw the viewer's eye, as it popped well against the green surroundings.
The focal point of my image was the brown plant. I decided to make the plant the focal point because it stood out a lot from its surroundings. I noticed it as I was sitting adjusting my lenses, and thought it may make for a good photo.
I feel that I achieved my goal of directing the viewer's eye to the focal point using color.
My biggest problem during this process was attempting to find the perfect balance between which lens to use and what exposure settings to use. It took me quite some time to find an exposure setting which worked in the shade.
In Photoshop, I used a Black/White layer to remove color from the background and all of the grass surrounding the subject. I used this to direct the viewer's eye to the subject of the image.
