Micro Scene - 230

 Micro Scene

In this assignment, we were tasked with creating a small scene using 3d objects, textures, and lighting. Some of the objects were created for previous assignments, and we were informed that we were to use them as well. This assignment was mostly comprised of review topics, so no new tutorials were added for use in this assignment.

I decided to create a table and a chair to go with my other objects, since my end goal for the next assignment is to create a saloon. I searched for quite some time to find a table reference I both liked and believed I could create, and I am quite pleased with both the reference I chose and my recreation of it. If I were to change the table, I would clean up the UVs on it. Previously, I did not fully understand the importance of arranging the UVs manually after applying a layout. Now, I understand the necessity of UV arrangement, especially when it comes to texturing wood.

As for the chair, I learned greatly while working on every aspect of its creation. I attempted to recreate the reference image from a cube, rather than with curves. This resulted in possibly the most unorganized and difficult to unfold UVs I've ever dealt with. I insisted on making edge loops and extruding from one object, rather than simply creating another cube and scaling it to match my needs. I felt this the most when designing the back rest of the chair. I took the longest and hardest possible route to achieve my goals, when a much easier alternative was right in front of me.
