Week 3 Progress Post

This week, I began my journey modeling the building I am working on. I made the mistake of not working on the assignment the week before thanksgiving, and not touching schoolwork over thanksgiving, so I am somewhat behind in my modeling and UVs. However, I have completed some of the necessary work, albeit at a slower pace as I readjust to Autodesk Maya.

Above, I have included a new reference picture of one of the objects I plan to attempt to create for this project as a prop. It seems to be a small generator, and after some close inspection, it seems to be within my range of capabilities to model/UV.

Above, I have the next reference image I added to my set of references. My only difficulty in modeling right now is the small accent between the roof and the second layer of the pillar, which I have marked in blue in the picture. I have tried many different ways of manipulating a cube to fit that shape, to no avail. I have created something somewhat close, shown below, that I am planning to use to save time. However, I plan to ask a question in class on how to properly execute this detail, so there is a very good chance this will change.

Finally, I have above the progress I was able to make on the library of walls and the aforementioned accent, as of the time of writing this article. Since I cannot acquire reference images of the entire building (as the physical place to take said pictures is locked in-game) I plan to create the sides and back sections out of view from my library of walls and décor.
