For this post, I will be discussing my process of working on the Final Micro scene project. We were instructed to use one of our previous large projects and add our own 10 props to create an original micro scene. This means we had to name the individual components that made up the models, UV the models to prepare for texturing, then texture the models using substance painter. We were also instructed to create a base and use lighting in Unity to create atmosphere for our scene. Then, we had to render the entire scene in Unity and submit the entire package. Below, you can see my finished product.
For this project, I actually had a fairly clear vision in mind for the final scene. However, over the course of working on this project, I fell into a severe depression, and was unable to accomplish my goal. Originally I assumed I was simply having a few bad days, but with multiple family losses weighing me down, along with realizing I had taken the wrong classes for my degree, I realized after discussing with my father that I was in a bad headspace. On the bright side, I actually began work on the project fairly early on, and had half of my models created and UVed a week before the project was due.
However, that next week was occupied heavily with work from other classes, and left me with no time to create the base or properly learn how to light my scene. This led to the scene you see above, in which the textures don't look bad, nor do the models in my opinion. However, nothing about the above scene indicates apocalypse like I had originally intended. This saddens me, since I feel it was completely within my reach for this assignment, but both circumstances beyond my control and my immature ways of coping led to my own downfall upon submission of the assignment.
